Overview


PD Workshop

Our professional development workshops are designed to take the fear out of teaching gymnastics. Whether you are a large school with one or more P.E. teachers, or a small school with no P.E. teacher, there is no need to pay a fortune to outsource your gymnastics program.

Our staff have over 20 years of experience in gymnastics, and have taught countless gymnastics programs in schools.

Our professional development workshops have been carefully constructed to give you the tools and the knowledge you need to run your own gymnastics program in your school, or can be individually customized for your specific needs.

The number of participants is capped at 15, and we require a minimum of 7 participants for a session to go ahead.

Syllabus


Duration: All day - 9am to 5pm, normally conducted during the school holidays.
Location: Based on demand. We will run a PD day at your school if you can get a minimum of 7 participants.

NEW! Gymnastics Victoria has outsources the delivery of the LaunchPad™ Ignite! face to face module to us. We now incorporate this 3 hour module into this PD session.

  • LaunchPad™ Ignite! (3 hours)
    • Neuro-nastics (brain development and movement)
    • Dominant Movement Patterns (DMPs)
    • pre-requisite for the 'Teacher Delivered' program option in the Sporting Schools funding application
  • 4 weeks of fun, engaging, curriculum based gymnastics
    • How to setup engaging circuits to keep participants moving
    • Lessons are based on the standard set of equipment you can hire from us, because lets face it, Gymnastics is more fun and challenging with equipment, and it costs too much to buy
  • What can I do with...
    • We go through the storeroom and come up with activities you can do with the equipment you may already have.
  • How do I teach a...
    • Time dedicated to answering your specific questions on how to teach xxx skills.

Please Note:- Gymnastics Victoria recommends that the following specific skills should not be included in a school gymnastics program:
  • Bridges or ‘back-bends’
  • Wheelbarrow supports
  • Swinging from the knees (hock swings)
  • Swings without matting
  • Deep knee bending (especially when weight bearing)
  • Inverted vaults (e.g. Handsprings)
  • All aerial somersaults
  • Excessive back arching or wrist supporting
  • Neck rotations
  • Headstands

The venue was great. There was plenty parking available.The station set up, with the equipment was teacher friendly.The fact that the demonstrations were videoed gives one confidence to implement, knowing that you have the video to refer back to, should you have any doubts. I'm feeling so confident about implementing the program that I've gone into school a day earlier to set up the stations for day 1 of term 2.The video,resource pack, inclusive of lessons makes this the best value PD I have attended.
